“This collection is inspired by my weekly commute downtown, a half hour trip down behind Mississauga and Toronto a tour of walls stretching all across the GTA covered in street art,” explains Emily Woudenberg. “My daily life inspired me to create wearable looks appropriate for this landscape, with edgy looks that are easily wearable not only to express yourself through street art but through wardrobe, on your train ride to work.”
WOUDENBERG’s Buff S/S 2012 collection features several key details including; handmade concrete accessories to show where graffiti art is born, and hand made silk-screening graffiti print patterns. The overall concept of my collection is to capture the grungy yet sophisticated aspects of the graffiti movement, while maintaining a fashion forward feel that is both expressive yet practical.
“I collaborated with talented filmmaker Adam Zivo to put together a short film entitled Buff, S/S2012 to present the collection as a total creative experience.”
