Creative Direction for Eponymous Jewelry Label

Fashion Brand custom Logo Fashion Label Branding Fashion Brand Responsive custom web design Plated charm tag design
The brand has developed to reflect an aesthetic that envelopes the un-fashionable, the awkward, the questionable, the avant-garde, and the everyday. An industrial and constructed brand that’s rough around the edges and appreciates the bizarre. The text is bold, unfeminine, and challenges traditional Didot style luxury fashion brand.

The emblem is inspired by an industrial window decal used to recognize the manufacturer. Concrete is often used in the collections to connote the beautifully banal and reflects the ubiquity the you see in much of fashion. The brand is communicated via a responsive web site design, that included a wordpress blog, and shopify e-commerce. Design included business cards, look books, and promotional materials.

The Crane 2014 Collection was presented online and on a six page tabloid sized look book, that was sent to local retailers. The book is broken down into five subsections in the collection that reflect the five elements that make up a pagoda. A printed catalog reflects the quality of the collection and is something that can be kept for revisitation.

The Crane 2014 Collection is inspired by Feng Shui and the spiritually influenced architecture of the pagoda. Each piece in the collection, is expertly handmade using hand selected high quality and sometimes untraditional materials. Sourcing gemstones and leather worldwide, being creative in production of each individual piece allow Woudenberg pieces to stand out. Each design was produced in limited numbers, and packaged with the edition number. In response to popular trends in orientalism and marble textured luxury products.

The collection used silhouettes that are minimal and revisits fashion from the 90’s. I included a pattern digitally printed on silk cotton blend fabric, that was made up of the RGB colours you see on gamma ray televisions. From a far the colours red as a shiny gold or copper. Filmmaker Adam Zivo created an experience that plays on the social aspects of fashion. The collection is inspired by notorious fashion egos and media in the 1990s, " describes Woudenberg, "I wanted to examine how one viewers opinion on the show or collection is often as important to that person than the work."

Ego by Emily Woudenberg examines the concept of the "fashion ego" and how the industry and media affect the way society perceives a designer's work. Collection pieces utilize print and screen media to add texture to the materials, integrating it seamlessly into how the entire collection is communicated. The runway presentation incorporates a short film directed by Adam Zivo (www.zivo.ca) and web installation at emilywoudenberg.com, to allow the viewer to gain a deeper understanding into the part they play in how designs are perceived.

Thanks to Adam Zivo for all his hard work on the short, make-up by Linda Radan, modelled by Tyson James and Saki, sponsored by Ukamaku and Doc Martens, love to the Homegrown Boutique, PR thanks to Ranu Hamilton, look book photography by Christine Kwan, volunteer Carmen Chen, runway videography by Justin Arjune, and runway photography by Sylwia Bobryk. Runway models are Romone, Alice, Lydia, Alice, Jane, Ruben, Nicholas, Caitlin, Ashley, and Cherie.

Look book and promotional video brought to you by photographer Sylwia Bobryk, videographer Justin Arjune, models Benjamin Edward & Alice Liu, hair stylist Dylan Dias, and make up artist Erin Heather.

A paragon, defined as "an immaculate diamond", symbolized the frivolity that followed World War I. After the Great Depression and World War II, the opulence of the Art Deco era was out of place and a stark contrast to the sombre reality of the late 1930s. The 12-piece collection incorporates rose gold, opalite, copper industrial materials, rope and hand-sculpted pendants. Staying true to the Woudenberg aesthetic, Paragon is avant-garde and androgynous with each piece as experimental and effortlessly sophisticated as the next.

The Buff Collection was inspired by my commute to work through the back of the city. Seeing the walls surrounding the tracks covered in graffiti made me curious about the process of painting at night. I wanted to design a collection for someone who had to make a quick escape.Video in collaboration with filmaker Adam Zivo with music by The Airplane Boys. Modelled by Ashley Carnegie, Dalia Bibr, and Cherie Fawcett.

Collaborators worked on this brand (you're all the best) all my love to Sylwia Bobryk for her amazing photography over the years not to mention a depth of kindness I don't yet understand. Good friend Adam Zivo for his visionary videography work and frankly I was never able to tap into his brain for some of the crazy ideas this man has. Justin Arjune did much photography and video work, he teaches me everyday the meaning of inner peace and has a lust to learn and love. Designer and multi talented world traveller, Teresa Man, her strength is so subliminal. I have to thank Jordan Armstrong for his idaes and support when I needed it most - you critical f**ker. Finally, thanks to Sam Ghantous, who's careful thoughtfullness will only lead to more inappropriate nudes at MIT.
